Friday Finds March 22

March 22, 2024

And just like that it’s Friday again. We celebrated the first day of spring just a few days a go and then got a fresh dusting of snow. Mother Nature is so confused. This week’s finds include a binge-worthy show, an art exhibit, and some tips from the Finns.

The Gentlemen

Andrew and I started watching this new show on Netflix over the weekend. Created by Guy Ritchie, it’s full of gritty, comedic scenes and a lot of weed. The show is about aristocratic Eddie who inherits the family estate. He quickly discovers that it is home to an enormous weed empire, and it’s proprietors don’t want to leave. Ritchie directed a movie with the same name a few years ago but this is not a remake. The Gentlemen is full of fresh characters and so many issues.

Dahlov Ipcar Exhibit

I am a huge fan of Dahlov Ipcar’s art. She was best known for her colorful, kaleidoscope styled paintings which often feature animals. The Cat at Night and Bug City are two of my favorites. I remember looking at Bug City for hours when I was younger, looking at bugs doing different jobs like sweeping the carpet beetle or going to the fish market. Anyway, if you are in the Portland, Maine area some of her art will be on display March 7-May 3. I am hoping to visit this weekend or next.

How The Finn’s Stay So Darn Happy

The list of the top 20 happiest countries came out the other day and USA has been bumped off the list. The one country that seems to always be either number 1 or close to it is Finland. Andrew is super proud of his Finnish heritage so I hear how great Finland is all the time. Here is a list of tips that people believe make this country the happiest on Earth.

Have a great weekend!
