Holy Moly it’s been hot and humid this week. Many days were spent by the pool, at the beach, and reading at home with the AC cranked. Is it October yet? This week’s finds include some hot weather recipes, a throwback beverage, safety tips and movie to look forward to.
Healthy Summer Recipes
I have been in no mood to cook this week. It’s been too hot and just the thought of turning on the oven makes me sweat. I found this list of healthy summer dinners that require very little, if any heat. On Wednesday I made the Grilled Salmon Salad with Cilantro Lime Dressing and it was SO good. I need to confess though that I didn’t grill the fish, I did a sous vide because it was too hot to grill. haha
Clearly Canadian
Ok, so I’ve either been living under a rock or these just popped up at my local grocery store. Clearly Canadian sparkling water was one of my favorite beverages growing up. Our fridge was always stocked with them and one day they just disappeared. I picked up two bottles of my favorite flavor, Wild Cherry, at my local Hannaford this week and will probably pick up a couple more today. Andrew doesn’t get it, but it’s pure nostalgia for me. And apparently I do live under a rock because this drink made a comeback in 2017! But, in my defense they were at stores we don’t have in Maine like CostPlus World Market.

Staying Safe in a Heatwave
This heat is no joke and it’s just going to get worse in the years to come. Not everyone has the luxury of air conditioning or living close to a body of water to take a dip in and heat related illness can happen very quickly. This article by The Skimm (love The Skimm, you should subscribe if you don’t already!) gives you tips on how to recognize the signs of heat related illness and what next steps should be.
Don’t Worry Darling
A 1950s housewife living with her husband in a utopian, experimental community begins to worry that his glamorous company may be hiding disturbing secrets. Sounds SO good right? I would watch this for the outfits alone but add in Harry Styles and I cannot wait until September when this psychological thriller comes out.
Have a great weekend! Stay cool and stay safe. 🙂
