Friday Finds February 3

February 3, 2023

Happy Friday! The groundhog saw his shadow on Wednesday so that means six more weeks of winter and my goodness does that ring true today. It is SO cold this morning and predicted to be -40F with the windchill later today. Yikes! This week’s finds include a self care article, a reading list, a super shopping bag, and a cold weather recipe.

Rest Up!

What does it mean to truly rest? This article explores this question and makes you really think if you are taking the time to recharge not only your body but your mind as well. I know that I am guilty of having trouble turning off the outside noise and tuning into myself. It was an interesting read and gives some tips like setting an alarm on your phone to assess a few key aspects of how you’re feeling (your sleep quality, energy level, pain, appetite, mood, etc) and to take note if something feels off.

Read It Before You Watch It

You can’t say the book was so much better if you haven’t read it! There are quite a few movies/shows coming up this year based on best sellers and cult classics alike. I’m really looking forward to the Netflix adaptation of All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr and Prime’s Daisy Jones & the Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid. I devoured both of those books in a matter of days.

Cute Baggu

Andrew gave me a new baggu to throw in my purse when I run errands. It has a funky, colorful pattern that I love and it hold SO much. I was surprised when I took it out of its little bag at first. It can easily hold 2-3 plastic grocery bags worth of items. I love it. You know you’re getting old when a shopping bag excites you, haha! Check it out here.

Indonesian Chicken Soup

This soup is full of soul warming aromatics and I think I’m going to whip some up this weekend. It also looks like it would be a great immunity boost with the ginger, turmeric and garlic.

Have a great weekend! Stay warm and safe out there 🙂
