Whenever we are planning a trip, finding a place to stay in an area that is both safe and accessible is my top priority. I love booking.com because of the honest reviews and the diverse listings. Want to keep it super cheap? Try a hostel. Want to stay somewhere unique? Book the tiniest home in France. The possibilities are endless, whether you want to live like a local or be pampered at a 5 star hotel (fyi we are not 5 star hotel people) they have something for you.
Here are some of our favorite stays through booking.com
Bayeux, France
This super cute home is a former workshop of the loch keeper of the city so it’s right on the river. It’s a two level home with a small sitting area/kitchen and bathroom on the ground level and a bedroom overlooking the street on the 2nd floor. Its central location makes it an ideal place to stay with access to all the museums, attractions, shops, restaurants and facilities of the city. You are a very short walk to the Tapestry Museum.

Paris, France
We stayed here because our friends lived right around the corner and it was the perfect choice. Awesome bed and pillows and breakfast was included every morning. The room was small but it was great for a short stay. The staff was very friendly and even though the hotel was on a main street you couldn’t hear the hustle and bustle below. Super close to the metro and bus as well.

Lausanne, Switzerland
This studio apartment located above a retail shop in the center of old Lausanne. The metro lines are just up the street and you are within walking distance of many historical sights.
The unit has a large living and sleeping area with a double bed and a sofa bed , and the kitchen is fully equipped . There is also a back door to a little terrace which was lovely.

Zurich, Switzerland
Hotel Arlette Beim Hauptbahnhof
Get ready to step back in time. I don’t think anything has changed in the hotel since the early 1980s but it was a great place to stay while we explored the Christmas Markets. It’s a family run hotel with super comfy beds and a yummy breakfast included in the price. The family that runs the hotel is always there, night and day to answer questions and they are so sweet. The hotel is in a great location, right near the train station and the major attractions of the city are a short walk or quick bus/tram ride away. It was also a very secure hotel, you had to leave your key each time you left, but it had a massive keychain so that was a huge plus.

Brussels, Belgium
2GO4 Quality Hostel Brussels City Center
This placed saved us! Our original booking through another rental site had fallen through and we were wondering around Brussels in July heat trying o figure out what to do.. Enter the booking.com app and this hostel. We were able to get a private room with bathroom in this central location. The place was impeccably clean and the staff were super nice. You will find a shared kitchen at the property, with breakfast in included.. A supermarket and multiple other shops are around the corner and the nearest metro stop is a short walk away. Most points of interest are within walking distance. We’ve stayed here on two separate stops in Brussels.
easyHotel Brussels City Centre
When we are looking for places to stay the first thing I do now is check to see if easyHotel is there., (they book up fast) This is one of the most budget friendly, clean, and comfortable places that we have ever stayed. Centrally located right in the historic area of Brussels it’s a short walk to the Grand Place, metro and shopping/dining. The staff is super helpful and they have lockers for your bags if you arrive to the city early. We’ve stayed at this hotel on two separate occasions as well, we really like Brussels.

Bruges, Belgium
This hotel is on a lovely winding cobbled stone street across from an old church. It’s a former townhouse so the rooms are unique and inviting. The market square and the Belfort with famous tower that you can climb up to see an amazing view of the square is a short walk away. The staff is so friendly and accommodating and the rooms have everything that you need. My favorite thing was opening the bathroom window to let the breeze in while I showered. So lovely.

Of course there are many sites that you can book from and they also have great options of places to stay. Airbnb is another site that we used quite frequently, but when you’re traveling the way that we do booking.com is a great option. After you’ve booked through them a few times you become a “genius”. Genius is Booking.com’s loyalty program where every booking counts. The more you book, the more you unlock. For example Genius’s get complimentary perks such as welcome drinks, free airport transfers, late check-out and 10% off popular properties around the world. AND they also get promo codes to share with their friends 🙂 If you book through booking.com using this link you will get $25 off your booking and so will I! It’s a win win.
So happy bookings and safe travels! Oh and Madrid is next on my list….where should we stay?
